**Child rights define what every child is entitled to. Child protection ensures those rights are respected, safeguarded and upheld in practice.** The Child Rights & Protection Certificate Program was intentionally designed around both dimensions. Understanding rights—including dignity, equality, participation, development, safety and freedom from violence—is essential, but awareness alone does not protect a child when those rights are threatened. Protection requires the ability to **recognize risks, prevent harm, understand safeguarding responsibilities, respond ethically, identify appropriate support and referral pathways, and create environments where children can participate safely and meaningfully**. This becomes increasingly important as children navigate both physical and digital environments. Abuse, exploitation, neglect, discrimination, cyberbullying, online grooming, harmful content, AI-generated manipulation and other emerging risks require individuals and institutions to understand not only **what rights children have, but what responsible protection looks like in practice**. The program therefore connects **rights with responsibility, knowledge with safeguarding, awareness with response, and learning with action**. Participants are encouraged to examine these principles within their own countries and communities and ultimately translate their learning into practical activities and community engagement. The result is an integrated approach that asks a fundamental question throughout the program: **How do we move from knowing that every child has rights to creating the people, practices and environments that protect those rights every day?**
