The Active Youth Program (AYP) is dedicated to closing the gap in youth engagement in democratic processes in Sri Lanka. Established to empower young individuals, AYP provides comprehensive education and practical experiences in democracy and governance.

To cultivate responsible and accountable young leaders actively participating in democratic processes.

To foster a culture of active citizenship and sustainable democratic practices among youth.

Program Phases
Strategic Course on Democracy, Governance and Participation
Building Foundations
Duration: 16 weeks
Targeted young people in the Colombo district, offering a 16-week diploma course on democracy, governance mechanisms, transparency, and anti-corruption laws.

Creative Diploma in Democracy, Governance, and Participation
Expanding Horizons
Duration: 6 months
Engaged 25 participants over six months, providing an in-depth exploration of democracy, governance, and active participation. Award ceremony held on February 1, 2024 at the American Center.
